"Sit yourself comfortably…

relax…relax…

shoulders relax…body relax…

rest your hands gently on your lap…

keep your eyes close or half open (just to look down a bit) …

take a deep breath in and deep breath out…

start breathing in through your nose…

then exhale through the mouth, letting out as much air as possible...

breathe in slowly…

then breathe out slowly and count 1…

breathe in…breathe out...count 2…

Continue breathing and count till 10…

then repeat again and feel a sense of total release in your body..."

Yes, the breathing exercise has become one of the highlights (my favorite) in the month of “Rebooting self” (Reclaiming self).

As typical task-oriented person, my mind has been constantly focusing on “to do” list and worrying about undone tasks. It doesn’t help much when I live in a culture that focus primarily on doing, on achieving, on thinking. This is monkey mind at work. Without realizing it, it has been bordering me all this while and affecting my mood (emotion), my relationship with my family especially the loves one and even my health.

Through the learning journey of “rebooting self”, I realize that most of us have monkey mind, but what’s important is how to tame it.

The way to tame the monkey mind is the way of mindfulness – non-judging awareness and acceptance of whatever Monkey Mind is doing at any given present moment. To be mindful is to be truly alive, present, and at one with those around us and with what we are doing.

In the month of mindfulness meditation journey to our inner self:

  • I have learnt a new relationship with my own thoughts, even those that create suffering;

  • I have learnt to start the day RIGHT by open up my body gently (do some stretches and deep breathing exercise before we get up);

  • I have learnt to let the principal dance lead me but not the mind;

  • I have learnt to watch my breathing and observe my thoughts;

  • I have learnt to let the pen takes me for a walk but not my mind;

  • I have learnt to walk the mindful path to a calm mind;

and most importantly

  • I have learnt to sit down, relax, and pay attention to what’s happening in the field of my sensation in the present moment.

It's such an incredibly great feeling about this realization and transformation.

I am/will continue to explore the journey to my inner self and will definitely remember to BREATHE DEEPLY!
